Wrexham is considering making a permanent move to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo

According to a The Sun story, Wrexham is considering a permanent move for Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.
After been promoted from League Two, Wrexham is eager to entice the stopper to the Racecourse Ground permanently this summer.

The 22-year-old Okonkwo has made an impression in goal for the Welsh team after temporarily joining them last year.

According to The Sun, the Red Dragons are now keen to sign him for a long-term contract, but their prospects of doing so will be based on his “wage” demands.

At the conclusion of his loan in Wales, Okonkwo is scheduled to return to Arsenal; however, his contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the current campaign.

He is now below players like David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale in the Emirates Stadium’s hierarchy, and it is unclear at this point if the Premier League title contenders will extend their offer to him.

If not, the Red Dragons would be able to sign him for nothing as a free agent, which would be a fantastic business decision.

This season, Okonkwo has cemented himself as Phil Parkinson’s team’s number one, and after recording 15 clean sheets, he was named to the fourth-tier Team of the Season.

Despite being a member of Arsenal’s roster his entire career, he has never made a first-team appearance. The goalie has previously spent time away from the London team, spending time with Sturm Graz and Crewe Alexandra to gain experience.

Wrexham will benefit greatly from the signing of the former England youth international as they get ready for life in League One.

They recently secured their promotion after thrashing Forest Green Rovers 6-0 at home.

Wrexham is now vying with Stockport County for the top slot in order to win the title. Next is a trip to Crewe, which is away.
