With a time of 9.79, Noah Lyles emerged victorious in the men’s 100-meter final at the Paris Olympics, making history as the quickest man alive.
Kishane Thompson of Jamaica took home the silver after losing to Lyles by a mere five thousandths of a second, and Fred Kerley took home the bronze with a timing of 9.81. After winning bronze in the 200 meters in Tokyo, the American athlete claimed his second Olympic medal, much to Lyles’ utter satisfaction.
After winning gold in Budapest last year, Lyles is currently the current world champion. His success was chronicled in Netflix’s “SPRINT” series, which has helped him gain enormous recognition in the sporting community.
The 27-year-old, who became the first person to achieve the sprint treble since Usain Bolt, also won the 200 meters and participated in the US 4×100-meter relay team’s victory at the World Championships. He raised some eyebrows by declaring he is “ready to transcend the sport” before to the Olympics.
