Tottenham join Everton in the race to sign Jacob Greaves

Spurs and Everton are both considering a transfer for Hull City defender Jacob Greaves, as per a Daily Mirror newspaper report.

James Maddison joined from Leicester City in the summer, continuing Spurs’ recent trend of acquiring Championship players.

Other acquisitions haven’t worked out as well. Joe Rodon, who was brought in from Swansea City, didn’t really contribute while he was in the English city.

Jack Clarke joined from Leeds United as well, but he struggled at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and left to join Sunderland, where he can now play every game when healthy.

Greaves, a 23-year-old who has been excellent under Liam Rosenior this season, may be the newest second-tier addition to the North London team.

Additionally, he performed well before to the 2023–24 season, which attracted Middlesbrough’s attention.

The defender, nevertheless, stuck with the Tigers and is signed with them through the summer of 2026 at MKM Stadium.

If offers for the central defender surface in the summer, Rosenior’s team will be in a strong position to negotiate because the Tigers have the option to extend Greaves’ contract by one more year.

Although it is evident that owner Acun Ilicali is an ambitious guy, Rosenior may need to cash in on one or more key players in order to finance these additions if he plans to invest more this summer.

Given Greaves’ contract predicament, Hull are already in a strong position with him.

And as people’s interest in him grows, that should only serve to raise his price.

Because of this, the Tigers will be able to pay him as much as possible, which will free up more money for Hull to spend on transfers.

Greaves has been instrumental in leading the East Yorkshire team to their current position, so losing him would be devastating. However, it’s likely that he won’t stay at the MKM Stadium indefinitely, so it’s critical that the team produce as much as possible for him.
