The Cincinnati Bengals had to change course after Brian Callahan was appointed head coach of the Tennessee Titans. The Bengals did that as well in no time at all.
Dan Pitcher, the Bengals’ quarterbacks coach, was reportedly going to be promoted to offensive coordinator on Wednesday. Among the people that broke the story was Pro Football Talk.
PFT announced, “Bengals to promote Dan Pitcher to offensive coordinator.” On X, the website that was formerly known as Twitter, PFT published the post.
The Bengals can easily select Pitcher to be their new offensive coordinator. He is clearly a member of the offensive line, particularly with quarterback Joe Burrow. Among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks is the former first overall pick. It undoubtedly felt more important than anything to keep the guy who might have been involved in that.
Callahan will so continue to enjoy his new residence in Tennessee as the Bengals limp along. In 2021 and 2022, the Bengals advanced to consecutive AFC Championship Games. They missed the NFL Playoffs for the third consecutive year, therefore that run was ended this year.
It will be interesting to observe the kind of impact Callahan’s absence has on the Bengals. He was among the NFL’s top coordinators. Pitcher will have significant expectations to meet. However, if his previous work is any indication, they might not miss a beat.
