Recently, a tragic incident occurred at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, involving the death of 31-year-old Richard Boateng from Maryland. He went missing while swimming off Rehoboth Avenue on September 3, 2023, just after lifeguards had gone off duty. Boateng was caught in rough surf conditions exacerbated by Tropical Storm Idalia. Despite a large-scale search operation involving the U.S. Coast Guard, Delaware State Police, and local fire departments, his body was recovered the next morning near North Shores Beach.
