Razorbacks HC Sam Pittman gives his verdict on the QB position

It might take some time before fans find out who Arkansas’s new starting quarterback is, according to Sam Pittman, who spoke with the media before to the team’s spring practices. The Razorbacks had continuity at the position from 2017 to 2019, when nine different passers started a game. That steadiness came from three seasons with KJ Jefferson and one with Feleipe Franks. Now, Pittman’s job is to find a new quarterback for 2024, working with new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino. Malachi Singleton and Jacolby Criswell, two former 4-star prospects who were Jefferson’s backups the previous season, are returning. The three newcomers to the room, Boise State transfer Taylen Green, former Hogs pitcher Austin Ledbetter, and true freshman KJ Jackson, are all gifted players with big arms and quick reflexes.

The head coach, in his sixth season, says he will make a decision after carefully examining each of his five quarterbacks. “We can,” Pittman responded when asked if the team may announce a quarterback in the spring. “With some of the stuff we’re doing in 7-on-7, it will take longer and include more repetitions and similar activities. We must determine who can throw best.
