After another impressive performance, Nikola Jokic helped the Denver Nuggets defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-107 to seize control of the Western Conference of the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat 111-92 to take first place in the Southwest Division. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s calf issue will also prevent him from playing in the last three regular season games, it has been announced.
After defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves with 41 points from Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets secured the top spot in the NBA’s Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks revealed that star player Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss the remainder of the regular season.
In a 116-107 victory over the greatest defense in the league, Jokic added 11 rebounds and 7 assists as well, putting the defending champs in a strong position to finish as the top seeds heading into the postseason.
With two games remaining in the regular season, the Nuggets lead both the Oklahoma City Thunder, who defeated the San Antonio Spurs 127-89, and the second-place Timberwolves by one game.
Jokic also listed his qualifications for a third season as the Most Valuable Player, but he acknowledged that other players are vying for the title.
“I believe I’m performing well in basketball,” the 29-year-old remarked.
“The basketball squad is performing well. I believe that several players in the league are playing excellent basketball, and a few of them ought to get that honor.
