Martin Truex Jr. comments on the NASCAR penalty for Austin Dillon

As of right now, the Cook Out 400 crashes have been examined from six angles, and opinions regarding Austin Dillon’s removal of Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano are divided widely.

Logano, for his part, believed that the physical contact he received from Dillon—a forceful shove to the back that sent him into the outer wall—was not the same as the heated conclusion he shared with Martin Truex Jr. in 2018.

After that, Logano passed Truex to win at Martinsville. Logano claimed that there were major differences between the finishes at Martinsville and Richmond, but Truex didn’t agree.

“I mean, I think that might have been a slightly different result, but the intention remained the same, right?” Truex Jr. stated at Michigan on Saturday. The plan was to smash into the guy as hard as I could as I drove around the curve, hoping to go past him. Really, I disagree with what (Logano) stated. However, I’m not sure.

Truex can probably identify to the situation that both Logano and Hamlin are in this week, having been the target of a similar push from Logano himself. Before Austin Dillon’s extremely aggressive driving caused them to go off course, both appeared to be winning.

Truex, for his part, is happy that NASCAR punished Austin Dillon for racing in a way that was detrimental to the sport by docking him 25 points and denying him a postseason berth.

“Overall image Truex Jr. stated, “I think I’m glad they did something because I just don’t agree with that kind of racing.” “Everyone just points the finger at the format, which I understand. It is still your responsibility to operate the vehicle, and anyone can pass the person in front of you. It is possible for anyone. need neither talent nor expertise at all. Therefore, I’m delighted they took action to make guys a little less likely to do that.

“Well, we have witnessed similar incidents over the years, so it is what it is,”

It was then questioned of Truex Jr. whether he concurred that Austin Dillon’s touch with Hamlin was deliberate. He waved off.

“I haven’t really given it enough thought because, in the end, it doesn’t really affect me and my opinions about the matter don’t really matter or really affect anyone,” he admitted. “I didn’t study it as thoroughly as many others did.”
