In order for the Tigers to qualify for the play-offs, Hull City’s head coach has challenged his team to perform at their best in the nine games left in the Championship season.
The MKM Stadium saw its largest league crowd in seven years as Rosenior’s Tigers battled fiercely to earn a 2-2 draw against league leaders Leicester City. If anything, there was a hint of frustration when the final whistle blew because the Tigers had led twice against the Foxes but had been pushed back.
Despite the fact that Norwich’s crushing of League One-bound Rotherham prevented City from making the playoffs, Rosenior is extremely optimistic about the remaining weeks of the season after his team faced what he believes to be one of the best teams at this level ever.
Twice against the Foxes, the Tigers led and were twice pegged back by Jamie Vardy. The first time was from the penalty spot, just after Fabio Carvalho made up for his missed penalty kick with a well-executed shot, and the second time came almost immediately after Anass Zaroury had put his team ahead.
Rosenior said, “That was us,” to Hull Live. That will be really beneficial to us. Because I am familiar with this staff, I had a good night’s sleep last night. Above all, they are an amazing group of people.
“We completed it in our own way today, which made me quite happy. The guts to take on a formidable team—among the best teams that have ever competed at this level—and win the game in a number of ways, including possession dominance, more shots on goal, and other incredibly satisfying features.
