Throughout his tenure leading the Texas Longhorns, head coach Steve Sarkisian has done an excellent job of recruiting, and the 2025 class is following suit.
Caleb Chester, a Missouri City, Texas native and a three-star cornerback recruit overall, is Texas’ most recent pledge.
Texas sent an offer to Chester in May 2023, and the staff has been pursuing him as one of their top cornerback targets ever since. Texas A&M, TCU, Arkansas, and LSU were the teams that lost, making this a noteworthy recruitment victory for the Longhorns as well.
With in-state recruitment so important in a state like Texas, the Longhorns have won big by keeping Chester away from the Aggies and Horned Frogs.
The opportunity to learn from Terry Joseph, the cornerbacks coach, along with the Texas experience ultimately proved to be more appealing to the 3-star prospect.
“It was really just ‘Why not Austin?” Chester gave 247Sports advance notice of his choice. “They have the best business school in the nation, and I want to major in business. It was the largest school.” I still reside in Texas, so it’s close to home. Joseph, the coach, is working with me. He has an amazing resume and is a terrific man. Coach Sark is coaching me as well. The other things were excellent, and he’s currently among the winningest college football coaches in the nation. Really, I had no excuse not to travel to Texas.”
Chester is the 2025 class’s No. 71 cornerback, according to 247Sports Composite. Texas currently has 11 commitments for 2025.
