JUST IN:Red Sox’ Rafael Devers gives a verdict on his injury :…..

Following Boston’s 1-0 loss to the Mariners, Rafael Devers—who the Red Sox held out of their lineup on Friday due to left shoulder soreness—gave an update.

“I have some shoulder soreness,” Devers stated via interpreter Carlos Villoria Benítez. Since the season is still early, we must exercise caution. Furthermore, it’s preferable to take a day or two rather than continue playing and subsequently miss a week or three.

Saturday play wasn’t ruled out by Devers.

“I believe there’s a good chance I’ll play tomorrow if I feel better,” he stated.

According to Devers, the shoulder pain started when he took swings against the pitching machine during spring training.

“Fort Myers is where it all began,” Devers added. “I believe it was growing worse and worse, and I could feel it a little yesterday. And I noticed it a little bit more during batting practice today. And I gave up trying to just be intelligent.

In Fort Myers, he claimed, “the pain wasn’t that big.”

Devers remarked, “I was able to play with it and handle it.” “However, the pain I was experiencing while playing got worse and worse until I made the decision to stop.”

Devers had two hits in Thursday’s 6-4 Boston victory over Seattle, the season’s first game. Among them was a 400-foot two-run home run to left center field. The slugger also dominated a double at 110 mph.

According to Devers, “it happens with the hitting machine sometimes.” The hitting machine’s consistency is lacking. That’s why it throws hard occasionally. It occasionally makes changes. And I always get ready to hit the fastball hard. And occasionally I deceive myself a little bit by swinging to those slow pitches and changeups, and that’s how it all began.
