JUST IN:Rangers join Celtic in the race to sign Bristol City striker Tommy Conway

Supporters are rooting for Rangers to pursue a trade for Tommy Conway, the striker for Bristol City.

After Ben Doak and Lyndon Dykes were injured, the forward was invited into Steve Clarke’s camp and is presently playing for Scotland at Euro 2024. With one year remaining on his Robins contract, transfer rumors are rife, and it’s thought Rangers and Celtic are keeping an eye on him.

In the event that a new Bristol City deal is not reached, both clubs may jump on a pre-contract deal for Conway next summer. After noticing the rumors, former Rangers right-back Alan Hutton understands why Ibrox manager Philippe Clement is interested.

If the Light Blues are able to reach an agreement for the forward, he believes they will secure a fantastic bargain. “It’s amazing because he’s something a little bit different, from what I’ve seen,” Hutton said to Football Insider.

“I believe he scored twelve goals for Bristol City in the Championship, which is a respectable total. He likes to run in behind, and it wasn’t until I saw him that I realized how fast he was. When he made his [Scotland] debut, I thought he was fantastic.

His style of play was very free-flowing; he worked extremely hard to get in behind and wanted to push. Rangers would be wise to sign that striker who is closing in behind.

“He’s still so young and will only get better, so it checks a lot of boxes for the Rangers, and I don’t mind at all that teams are considering him.”
