Berti’s single into the first row of right-center field bleachers next to New York’s bullpen, against Chicago starter Chris Flexen (2-4), broke a 2-2 tie. The infielder’s first home run since being acquired from the Miami Marlins at the conclusion of spring training was a 366-foot drive. After Juan Soto was given a walk, Judge crushed a pitch down the right field line for a 339-foot home run to give the Yankees a 7-2 lead. The ball bounced back onto the pitch after going into the first row. It was Judge’s seventh home run in his last 13 games and his 13th of the season. Carlos Rodon (5-2), a former Chicago starter, gave up two runs and four hits in six innings.
