JUST IN:Jim Goodwin reacts to Dundee United’s 1-1 draw against Ross County

Jim Goodwin expressed his “great anger” at Dundee United’s three-point lethargic play against Ross County at Dingwall.

The home team’s failed penalty kick by Eamonn Brophy appeared to have been crucial since it let Dundee United take the lead soon after the interval when David Babunski scored past a defenseless Ross Laidlaw.

But in a stunning change of events, the Staggies scored a goal in the fifth minute of extra time, Ronan Hale, to tie the score deep into stoppage time.

Even though Goodwin acknowledged that a draw was most likely a fair result, he was extremely angry with his team’s “unacceptable” error in letting their lead slip away.

The Dundee United manager angrily said, “I’m extremely angry and frustrated at how we concede the equalizer.”

“With a 1-0 lead and five minutes remaining in injury time, we ought to win the match.

“Three of our men are vying with Jordan White for the same ball. We must handle that circumstance far more skillfully. In the midst of the goal, we find ourselves in a 2 v 1 situation, and instead of marking the player, we should be marking space.

At this point, it’s intolerable that you commit such errors and then receive the consequences.

“We could have six points right now, but we only have two here.”

Don Cowie, the manager of Ross County, commended his team for their never-say-die mentality as they fought until the very end.

“Compared to last week, which was more of a fighting performance, I thought it was a big step up,” Cowie said.

“The first-half performance against Dundee United thrilled me. We had a lot of choices for the player with the ball, and we were quite effective in possession.
