JUST IN:Ipswich Town joins Everton in the race to sign Jacob Greaves

Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town have made Hull City defender Jacob Greaves their priority target, according to Mike McGrath.

For the last four seasons, the 23-year-old defender has been an integral part of the Tigers’ team. In 2023–2024, he had yet another strong season on his own.

Greaves has a contract with the MKM Stadium that runs through the summer of 2026, although the team has the option to extend it by one more year.

If the Tigers opt to sell this summer, they should fully anticipate receiving a sizable transfer fee, which may be crucial money for a team without parachute payments.

Journalist Mike McGrath revealed via his X account that Ipswich Town’s #1 priority during the summer transfer window is Hull City center-half Greaves.

McGrath reports via The Telegraph that Tractor Boys manager Kieran McKenna has made Greaves his top target as he attempts to bolster his defense’s core in anticipation of playing Premier League games.

The Englishman’s improvement has previously been linked to fellow Premier League teams Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, but they will be up against fierce competition from the driven Suffolk team.

McGrath reiterates that the Tigers want Greaves to stay at MKM Stadium for the upcoming campaign because they don’t want to lose a player who will be essential to Hull’s hopes of winning the Premier League.

In the event that Everton sells Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United, the Toffees will essentially be allowed to write a blank check to Hull for Greaves’ signing, therefore it might be in their best interests to move quickly with a deal.

Greaves, who is a supporter of Hull City, made his League One debut for the squad in the 2020–21 season as a teenager. Since then, he has developed into one of the team’s true leaders, both on and off the field.

With Andrew Robertson and Harry Maguire both going on to enjoy lengthy careers at the top of the game, the Tigers have recently produced a number of outstanding defenders, and Greaves may be the next in line.
