According to a report by HullLive, Hull City and Tim Walter are still in negotiations as they try to entice the German to move to East Yorkshire.
Hull City has been in talks with the 48-year-old since Liam Rosenior’s abrupt termination by Acun Ilicali two weeks ago. The previous season, the Tigers placed seventh in the Championship standings and fell three points shy of making the playoffs.
Walter, who was fired from the Bundesliga, is available. He is from Bruchsal in the West of Germany.Hamburg back in February, and he’s been considering his options ever then. At the Volksparkstadion, he was in charge for just under three years.
Hull City “aim” to have their new leader in place by the end of the week, according to HullLive’s most recent update on his status. Talks with their top candidate are still ongoing. Last week, he met twice with Ilicali, first in Munich and then in Monaco.
In order to give their new manager enough time to be ready for the upcoming season, the Tigers must make their next appointment as soon as possible.
Ilicali is well aware that unless he signs a contract, the potential Walter trade won’t go through. When Hull City seemed to be done, they attempted to acquire Pedro Martins in November 2022, but the deal fell through when Al-Gharafa of Qatar intervened.
Prior to being appointed head coach of Holstein Kiel, who had just promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history, Walter had stints as a coach at the academies at Karlsruher and Bayern Munich.
In his one and only season in command, he led Kiel to a sixth-place result; however, after they were demoted from the top division, Stuttgart enticed him to leave.
But he was only at the MHPArena for six months, and he took a few years apart from the game before Hamburg called.
After two straight third-place finishes, Water led his former side into two play-off finals, but they were defeated in both of them.
