JUST IN:Ex-Vikings sees Spencer Rattler as the perfect QB for the Vikings

If the Minnesota Vikings’ best-laid intentions to select a top-ranked quarterback prospect this year at the NFL draft don’t work out, they might have to settle with a less spectacular option in the middle rounds.

In 2019, Spencer Rattler was a five-star prospect enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. Despite having some severe problems, the now South Carolina alumni has tantalizing qualities and is a Day-2 candidate heading into the draft. His collegiate career didn’t turn out as well as the buzz suggested.

However, as it does each season, the quarterback position continues to generate a great deal of demand throughout the league. The Vikings, according to former NFL wide receiver Deshaun Jackson, are the ideal fit for Rattler at the next level. Minnesota is one of the many clubs searching for answers under center that cannot guarantee them in the shape of one of the top three or four QB prospects.

“Minnesota, I believe. During an interview on the “Up & Adams Show” this week, Jackson stated, “Going over there with Justin [Jefferson], man, Minnesota.” That seems like a nice fit for him. They also require a quarterback.

Rattler, who was also appearing on the broadcast, reacted enthusiastically to the concept.

Rattler remarked, “Hey, that’s a great situation.” “It would truly be a blessing to perform there. Owned numerous weapons.

Jackson is not the only well-known football figure to have recently suggested a matchup between Rattler and the Vikings. Throughout his 15-year career, Jackson has been a three-time Pro Bowler and a legitimate deep threat.

Rick Spielman, the former general manager of Minnesota who served the team in various high-level roles for 16 years until 2021, said to Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports on March 25 that Rattler needs to develop a winning strategy in order to advance to the next level. Spielman interprets that as an offensive scheme that originated from the coaching tree of Kyle Shanahan.

Whether it’s the 49ers or the Rams, the best player would be the one to emerge from that [offensive] scheme. Even Minnesota, I would say,” Spielman remarked. “There’s no doubt about the throwing and all that, so I think [Rattler] has a chance if he does get into that proper [system].” Simply put, he will fail if he is not in the correct environment.
