JUST IN:Alana Reid advances to the World Under-20 Championships women’s 100m final

With a comfortable victory in her semi-final round on Tuesday in Lima, Peru, Alana Reid moved on toward being the fourth Jamaican in a row to win the women’s 100m at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships.

In her semi-final, Reid, the global Under-20 leader, ran 11.44 seconds (-0.3m/s), besting Australia’s Aleksandra Stoilova in third place and Nigeria’s Justina Tiana Eyakpobeyan in second place with a time of 11.56 seconds.

In an attempt to continue Jamaica’s dominance in the event over the previous six years, Reidโ€”who ran 11.46 seconds in the morning’s preliminaryโ€”hopes to join fellow countrymen Briana Williams, who won in Tampere, Finland in 2018; and Tina Clayton, who won in Nairobi, Kenya in 2021 and again in Cali, Colombia in 2022.
