Josh Schuster may go elsewhere, Manly has informed him, less than a year after the big-money second-rower was signed to a three-year contract.
Schuster, who signed a $800,000-a-season contract in June of last year, is set to play in the NRL until the end of 2027.
The Samoan international has reportedly been instructed by AAP that he can start negotiations with other teams if he wants to leave the Sea Eagles.
Despite being one of the most gifted young players in the league, Schuster has had difficulty fitting in with Manly’s group.
He was a star in the second row in 2021, but due to a string of injuries, he struggled at five-eighth when he was shifted there in 2023.
After missing the Las Vegas season opener due to injury, he has played in reserve grade this season. A fortnight ago, he was even benched once in the NSW Cup.
Unless another suitor is ready to pay the entire sum, Manly would still be obligated to pay a portion of his contract for the following two years.
