JUST IN: Kristian Campbell Promoted to Worcester

In any case, Rich Hill is officially a part of the Worcester building. He threw his first bullpen with the WooSox yesterday afternoon, though we still don’t know when he’ll return. We don’t yet know when he will play in his first game or how long it will take him to sign with a major league team, but he will travel with the squad this week. It’s a bit late to be picky, but we also honestly don’t know if he’ll be even slightly effective. Per the Boston Globe’s Julian McWilliams

What precise time is it now late? The Red Sox are currently further out of a postseason place than they were a week ago, with just 39 games remaining in the schedule. The Red Sox must now begin winning series in order to avoid extinction, as they did when they split a four-game set with the Baltimore Orioles. MassLive’s Chris Cotillo

Yesterday, Kutter Crawford lost control of the game in the sixth inning, which cost the Sox an excellent chance to win the series. McGuire, Sean T., NESN.

It’s exciting to see prospect Kristian Campbell promoted to Worcester, even though he won’t help the pitching staff or the major league squad in 2024 in any manner. As a relative unknown, Campbell started the year at single-A Greenville and went on to soar up the system this summer. Boston.com’s Connor Ryan

Could Campbell possibly make it to the major leagues before Marcelo Mayer? Similar to Campbell, Mayer is in the same situation, but he’s struggled to maintain his health. (NESN/Greg Dudek)
