The Detroit Lions have just played in one of the most contentious games in recent memory. They were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys after attempting three consecutive two-point conversions. Head Coach Dan Campbell has been open about his thoughts about the game and his “fury” that must be contained as the regular season winds down.
Campbell has made a few notable remarks this week, and he is now singing a tune that this loss was a godsend for the club because it will get them upset and ready for the postseason, and he just could be correct.
Detroit Lions’ Dan Campbell Says The Loss Is A Blessing
Coach Campbell was quoted in his recent press conference talking about he wants the team to use this a fuel and turn it into motivation once they get to the tournament. He said:
“We walked away, packed our bags and left. This one, we got a taste of what that’s like, but we’ve still got a chance. We haven’t even started the tournament. So, this is a — I think it’s a blessing. And I would tell fans, ‘Don’t do it. Don’t even believe that.’ We’re just getting started.”
Since most of us at home would be wondering how this loss is a blessing, he went on to make sure everyone understood his justification for his statements. He went on to elaborate on this proverb:
“We were in it, we were in a tight game, had a chance to win it, we weren’t able to and so now you know what that’s like,” Campbell said. “You know what that feels like, and you can’t let that opportunity slip, man. You don’t know when that play’s going to be made. Could be the first quarter, second quarter, right before halftime, so that’s why.”
The team will have to utilize his possible accuracy as fuel since it’s wise to find extra motivation and “take things personally” before the playoffs in order to gain every advantage you can. Given Campbell’s coaching style, this might even be a gift in disguise, as it will give them even more drive to win if they play the Dallas Cowboys in the future.
