Adrian Clarke, a former EFL player, has noted that not many Hull City supporters were dissatisfied with the football team’s approach under Liam Rosenior.
Many were taken aback by Hull’s decision to fire Rosenior earlier this week, given that he nearly led them to the playoffs this year.
Even though the former Hull manager had a lot of support, Clarke maintained that he managed to get a team that was fighting relegation to the verge of the playoffs in a short amount of time.
He stated, “I thought he did a fantastic job,” on the What The EFL Podcast.
“All right, so he had a respectable budget and was able to sign some elite players, but Hull was fighting relegation when he joined, and he led them to the verge of the playoffs.
“I thought they had a very well-organized and well-coached team; they had an excellent season overall.”
Acun Ilicali has publicly stated that he did not fire Rosenior for his poor performance this season.
The Hull owner said that it was motivated by football philosophy and expressed his desire for a new coach to lead his squad to play more exciting football.
Clarke clarified, though, that he did not recall many Hull supporters being unhappy with the game the team was playing under the previous management.
He claimed: “The owner has now spoken on the radio and stated that his dismissal was due to a stylistic issue rather than underachievement.
“I wanted to be out of my seat, enjoying more attacking and daring football; he was a little too defensive.”
“Respecting the owner’s right to own the team he desires is important, but I don’t think many Hull supporters were dissatisfied with Liam Rosenior and the playing style.”
