JUST IN: Hull City is still confident in keeping Jaden Philogene amid interest

Even if a Premier League team made a proposal, Hull City owner Acun Ilicali says he would not consider selling former Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene for £25 million this summer.

Although it only applies when both teams are in the same level, Villa did include a buy-back clause in the agreement that saw the 21-year-old transfer from to East Yorkshire for a cost of £15 million. Hull is now in 10th place, six points behind the play-off spots, behind teams like Middlesbrough, Preston, and Coventry who are all chasing sixth-place Norwich City.

In his 25 Championship games thus far this season, Philogene has been outstanding, tallying eight goals and dishing out six assists. Even if there may be interest from Premier League clubs in Philogene in the summer, Ilicali is determined to keep him with the team through this season.

“At this point, I think the team is successful. We purchased it while it was ranked 21st. Naturally, we haven’t reached the level of success we had hoped for, but running a business is similar to ascending a ladder,” he stated in an interview with the Turkish publication Sabah.

In my own career, it has been similar. I want to go step by step up the stairs in our adventure through England. I am unable to set a deadline since I will not be satisfied with either speed. I want us to go up gradually.
