JUST IN: Hull City is set to boost its midfield with a move to sign Sheffield United midfielder

Oliver Norwood, a seasoned midfielder for Sheffield United, has been linked to Hull City as transfer rumors intensify.

After seen so many players leave, City knows they need to add up to ten players this summer if they are to be competitive at the top of the Championship again.

The Blades’ 28th and last defeat of the season, a 3-0 home loss to Tottenham, brought an end to Norwood’s six-year tenure at Bramall Lane, which he calls the best of his career. The season was a complete bust, and the Blades will now return to the Championship.

In 38 games this season, the Blades gave up a record 104 goals in the league; as Chris Wilder gets ready to return to the second division, the 33-year-old midfield is among the casualties.

Football Insider claims that managerless City, Sunderland, Watford, and foreign teams—including those in the Major League Soccer—are all showing interest in Norwood.

After making 252 appearances for Steel City after joining on loan in 2018, Norwood departs Bramall Lane with two promotions and 97 Premier League games.

“The Blades can confirm Chris Basham, George Baldock, Oliver Norwood, Wes Foderingham, and Max Lowe will leave the club when their contracts expire this summer,” the team announced in a press release prior to Spurs’ finalday visit. After this campaign ends, everyone of the players listed above will start a new chapter in their careers because they were instrumental in the Blades’ victories while they were at Bramall Lane.

“In order to allow them to get recognition from Unitedites for their contributions, the club feels it is appropriate to announce this news ahead of the campaign’s conclusion. They have combined for nine promotions over their Blades careers. The five will receive special recognition and further tributes on the club’s digital platforms as Sunday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur marks United’s last game of the season.

“We are grateful and appreciative of the five players’ contributions to Sheffield United Football Club as they depart. In due course, more information about the futures of the other players of the existing squad will be released.”
