Max King, the prop, has allegedly signed a new three-year contract with the Canterbury Bulldogs, extending his stay with the team.
Wide World of Sports has revealed that King and the Bulldogs decided for the 26-year-old to stay at Belmore even though other teams were interested in his services for the upcoming season and beyond. King was originally off-contract at the end of the season.
The Canterbury forward, who has been a member of the Bulldogs since 2022, has participated in all but one of those two seasons and is now a crucial piece of Cameron Ciraldo’s forward puzzle as a rookie coach.
King, who played for the Melbourne Storm and Gold Coast Titans in the past, is currently one of the leaders of the Bulldogs’ forward pack after Tevita Pangai Junior, Luke Thompson, and Raymond Faitala-Mariner all left.
King, who has played in 97 NRL games, is one of the greatest forwards available for the 2025 season and might have an impact on Canterbury’s campaign going into 2024.
A fourth-generation rugby league player, King’s grandpa Johnny King (St George Dragons, 1960–1971), great-grandfather Cec King (South Sydney Rabbitohs, 1945–46), and father David King (Gold Coast Seagulls, 1991–1992) were all elite players.
“We are eager to retain Max, as he’s an excellent child and has greatly benefited us,” Phil Gould previously told WWOS.
