“This has been an unforgettable experience, and I appreciate how memorable you’ve all made this for me,” Burton wrote in an Instagram post announcing the news.

Burton is the 13th-best receiver in the 2024 draft class, according to ESPN. In the first three rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft, 14 receivers were chosen.

Prior to the 2022 season, Burton transferred to Alabama following his two seasons of play at Georgia. Because of the NCAA’s COVID waiver for the 2020 season, he was eligible for a fifth year in 2024.

Burton has spent the last two seasons as Alabama’s top receiver. After barely leading the club in 2022 with 677 yards on 40 catches, he concluded this season with 798 yards on 39 catches. During his two seasons, Burton caught 15 touchdown passes.

Burton finished sixth in the nation this season with an average of 20.46 yards per reception among FBS receivers who averaged at least two catches per game.

Burton’s departure leaves Isaiah Bond as the Tide’s top returning receiver entering his junior season in 2024. Bond led the team with 48 catches this season, finishing with 668 yards and four touchdowns. Alabama is also currently projected to return Kobe Prentice and Kendrick Law to its receiver room, which lost Malik Benson to the transfer portal this week.
