Speaking to Give Me Sport, transfer source Dean Jones disclosed that numerous teams are monitoring Hull City winger Jaden Philogene.
Since joining the Tigers this season, the 22-year-old has been a vital member of the team after leaving Aston Villa.
Many were taken aback when Unai Emery’s team approved the gifted wide player’s permanent departure, and he is currently showing why Villa shouldn’t have let him go.
Although Hull only paid £5 million for him last summer, and it has obviously been a poor business decision to let him go permanently, they do have a £15 million buy-back option, which they may ultimately use if they are determined to get him back to Villa Park.
To return to the Premier League team, Philogene would also have to agree to personal conditions, and it’s unlikely that he will, given that other teams are rumored to be interested in the 22-year-old.
The England youth international has been a standout goal scorer for Liam Rosenior’s team in the 2023–24 season, and Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly leading the chase for him.
They are not the only team showing interest in Philogene; Ajax, the legendary Dutch team, is also rumored to be interested.
Tom Collomosse thinks the Tigers would demand more than £15 million in order to allow him to leave the MKM Stadium.
That makes sense given that the 22-year-old moved to East Yorkshire only last summer and signed a long-term contract there.
According to Jones, there is a lot of interest in Philogene, so it doesn’t appear like simply Spurs and Ajax are interested in him.
“Obviously, you start wondering whether Villa should have just kept him on board, but I still think this is probably a good moment for him to go and fulfill his own potential,” he said in an interview with Give Me Sport.
The possibility that Villa might exploit a buyback provision is fascinating.
“Considering anything like that might seem quite soon, as you’re essentially acknowledging that you made a mistake and making a swift 180-degree turn.
“This is a player that is certainly going to be in the Premier League soon, and there are plenty of clubs keeping an eye on him right now.”
