The Detroit Pistons fell to the Brooklyn Nets 112-118 on Tuesday night in the second game of a back-to-back. The game was close, with Detroit leading by 14 points at one point in the first quarter, largely because of Bojan Bogdanovic’s 11 points in the first quarter. Even though Brooklyn would take the lead again in the second quarter and maintain it until the beginning of the fourth, Mikal Bridges’ poor shooting from the free throw line in the midst of the game almost cost them the game. Bridges missed five consecutive free-throw attempts. The Pistons’ current losing streak now stands at 27 games after their loss against the Nets. This record was previously held by the 2010–11 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 2013–14 Philadelphia 76ers.
The record for the 2013–14 76ers was set when they went through a losing run that began on January 31, 2014, when they lost to the Atlanta Hawks, and ended on March 27, 2014, when they lost to the Houston Rockets. The Sixers concluded that season with 19 victories, which is their fourth-lowest total ever, only behind the 1972–73, 2015–16, 1995–96, and 2014–15 campaigns. The team was struggling to win under rookie head coach Brett Brown.
Considering that Detroit’s winning streak began on October 28th, the present squad helped to break their franchise record as the Sixers defeated the Pistons three times. The third and final game of the season is scheduled for April 9, which is the only other date the two teams are scheduled to play.
