Acun Ilıcalı, who owns Hull City, informed Sabah that he would like to sign goalkeeper Fernando Muslera of Galatasaray and Fred of Fenerbahçe for the Championship team, if at all possible.
The 54-year-old is well-known for being a Fenerbahçe fan, and during the long conversation, he was asked which two Süper Lig players he would most like to recruit for Hull City.
In response, he declared, “I would close my eyes and buy Fred if I had the right to buy two football players at the end of the season.” The Seri-Fred-Ozan trio would be so enjoyable to watch that you could just sit and enjoy it. Also, I would purchase Muslera. Welcome to the Premier League, Muslera.
After five years at Manchester United, the Brazilian midfielder signed with the Yellow Canaries last summer.
In January 2022, Hull City was positioned in the lowest part of the Championship table when Ilıcalı took charge. The Tigers are now sixth in the standings, six points behind sixth-place Norwich City, having finished 15th the previous season.
Sabah asks the Turkish billionaire when he will succeed at Hull City, pointing out that he has been successful in everything he has attempted in his career thus far.
“At this point, I think the team is successful. We purchased it while it was ranked 21st. Naturally, we are not as successful as we would have liked to be, but Ilıcalı said that managing a business is similar to climbing a ladder.
In my own career, it has been similar. I want to go step by step up the stairs in our adventure through England. I am unable to set a deadline since I will not be satisfied with either speed. I want us to go up gradually.
Ilıcalı has maintained that Hull City had aspirations of rejoining the Premier League at the same time. In the event that the English club makes it to the first division, he has also provided insight into their transfer philosophy.
His apparent focus is on purchasing to resell for a significant profit.
“Thank God, we are transferring from 1 to 3 and 3 to 5. It will cost you €5 million and be thirty. It will cost $50 when you purchase it for 10. We must succeed in this. We’ll follow this policy, he continued.
Similar to how Real Madrid acquired Arda Güler. We can estimate how much more he will be going forward. We must capture players who are like that. Jaden Philogene’s worth has increased from €5 million to €30 million after we signed him. However, we don’t plan to part with him for thirty. Ozan’s age of 29 makes him an unfit player. Turkey made three offers to us. However, England made no offer.”
If everything seems a bit reminiscent to Football Manager, that’s because it is. The Hull City manager stated, “We used to play FM (Football Manager) a lot years ago.” You see, I am currently living out the truth of this, but it is not an easy fact to face.
