Hull City owner Acun Ilicali gives his verdict on Jaden Philogene

Acun Ilicali, the owner of Hull City, revealed to the Daily Mirror that he thinks Aston Villa might decide not to sign Jaden Philogene, even if they wish to get a return for the winger.

The winger’s permanent transfer from Villanova to MKM Stadium was made possible by the Tigers’ incredible summer heist.

The Tigers have benefited from this trade since Philogene has returned the club’s investment in him.

He might, however, depart the East Yorkshire team within a year after signing because of growing interest in his services.

The 22-year-old may find it alluring to transfer to the English capital and join the Premier League squad, since Tottenham Hotspur was earlier said to be leading the hunt for him.

Ajax is reportedly quite interested in him, and Crystal Palace and the Netherlands are also showing interest in him.

He would have former Middlesbrough player Chuba Akpom for company if he transfers to the Dutch powerhouses, though it is unclear if they would have the funds to close a deal.

With Villa’s buy-back option and Unai Emery’s team having an interest in the future, the Tigers might be more worried about Villa and their possible involvement.

If Philogene can continue to produce, they would just have to spend £15 million to bring him back, which would be a great deal for the Midlands team.

Ilicali is obviously anxious to retain onto his star winger, as he has demonstrated genuine ambition during his time at the MKM Stadium.

Regarding Villa’s buy-back policy, he stated to the Daily Mirror: “We don’t worry that Aston Villa will try to repurchase Philogene. We can only exercise the buy-back option in the event of a promotion.

With our solid relationship with the club, we will ask for permission to keep Jaden if he wants to play with us and doesn’t want to go to Villa.

Every player need to be where they’re content, in my opinion. I’m sure Aston Villa won’t let us down if Jaden decides to stay with Hull City if we go to the Premier League.”

It’s obvious that Philogene is a player drawing attention from other sources.

And he might wish to leave the MKM Stadium if Hull doesn’t advance at the end of this season.

At this vulnerable point in his career, he must prioritize playing time, but if he plays with the Tigers for at least another season, he could continue to advance quickly.

It’s only a matter of time until he’s offered a starting position in the top flight if he can continue to improve quickly.

Philogene should wait patiently and avoid making impulsive decisions that could harm his profession.
