Hull City is set to make Liverpool’s James McConnell one of their top signings

McConnell might be the third player from Liverpool to be loaned to the Tigers in the past year, continuing the trend of growth between the two teams after the success of Carvalho and Morton. Carvalho found himself at a crossroads following a lackluster stint at RB Leipzig, so his return to form was all the more impressive.

A lot of interest in a few of the Reds’ young players is anticipated this summer, especially in McConnell, a 19-year-old who has made nine appearances for the senior team, the article mentions.

With three less points than sixth-place Norwich City at the end of the 2023–24 season, Hull finished narrowly outside of the Championship play-off spots. They will be trying to bolster their roster during the summer transfer window in order to improve their chances of pushing for promotion.

Because Hull offered Morton, Carvalho, and even Harry Wilson valuable tenures in exchange for more senior playing time, the relationship between Hull and Liverpool has flourished over the years.

During the previous season, Morton and Carvalho played leading roles for the second-tier team. The former participated in 41 games overall (39 in the league) and finished as a defensive midfielder with three goals and five assists.

Carvalho, who joined Hull from Fulham in the summer of 2022, struggled to establish himself as a regular at the club and ended up lending his skills to Hull, where he contributed 11 goals (two assists and nine goals) in 20 league games.
