Before Friday night’s match between Hull City and Blackburn Rovers at the MKM Stadium, the team will assess captain Lewie Coyle.
significant Despite playing a fantastic game, Coyle was forced off the field early in City’s 1-0 loss to Sunderland on Boxing Day due to an ankle injury.
Jack Clarke scored the game-winning goal eight minutes from time, condemning City to their second straight loss over the Christmas break. Regretfully for the Tigers and head coach Liam Rosenior, the seasoned defender was unable to continue and was replaced by Cyrus Christie for the final thirty minutes.
Prior to Rovers’ visit, Coyle will be evaluated in the coming hours, and Ryan Allsop, the goalie, will meet a similar end. Due to a hip issue, Allsop was unable to start in goal against the Black Cats on Friday night’s thrilling loss at Bristol City. Matt Ingram made his starting line-up comeback for the first time since late mid-September.
“After roughly ten minutes, he (Coyle) took a hit. Because it was early, it was his ankle. He followed Jack Clarke back, and after taking a blow to the ankle, he began to limp. He then received another one, and when we checked on him at halftime, he insisted he was fine to continue. However, after receiving a blow, your body stiffens up for the remainder of the game, so I had to take him off.
Rosenior continued, “There’s no timescale on Ryan,” in reference to his goalie. “At this time, he is being evaluated. He has a back and abductor problem, which is obviously quite unfortunate for us. In my opinion, Matty Ingram done nothing wrong at all. He looked solid in my opinion and made a few really nice saves, which is why I’ve always stated that a squad will be needed to get us to our desired destination.”
Importantly, while Dogukan Sinik continues to be a longer-term absence, Rosenior will still not be able to call upon Jaden Philogene and Ruben Vinagre for their final game of 2023 in front of another sellout crowd at MKM Stadium.
