Hornets choose Ja Morant over LaMelo Ball in 5-Year NBA Re-Draft

Despite his recent troubles off the court, Morant has been one of the league’s most talented guards since his draft selection, and he would still be among the top picks in a future re-draft.

Leading the way in Charlotte under Morant’s leadership would offer similar energy to Ball, but with similar injury concerns and off-court choices (although Morant’s have been noticeably worse).

Furthermore, the Hornets were not even close to drafting Ball in this alternate reality, given on the choices made in the re-draft. They selected Morant at number five, while Ball was not selected until the Minnesota Timberwolves chose him at number twelve.

Ball was selected just ahead of Scottie Barnes, Alperen Sengun, and Jalen Williams, among a few other players.

The Hornets’ decision to select Morant over Ball makes some sense, but it is strange to see those three players replace the current Charlotte star, especially because Ball was an All-Star in the past.

Ball is one of the NBA’s most captivating guards when he’s on the court, but he struggles to stay on the court. It is possible that teams would prefer to have Barnes, Sengun, and Williams’ consistency.

In any case, it will be interesting to watch the Hornets pass on Ball in a re-draft, especially given how late Ball went.
