Team Plett helps Alberta Curling win 2022-23 cup race
Alberta Curing is one of two provinces to of two season-long points races between Curling Canada’s 14 Member Associations.
Curling Alberta won the For The Love of Curling Cup. This cup goes to the Member Association which has the best results at Curling Canada’s four NextGen events. The Canadian Junior (Under 21) Men’s and Women’s Championships and the Canadian Under 18 Boys and Girls Championships.
This year, Team Plett was awarded Alberta Team of the Year for the second year in a row. They won multiple events, including both the U18 and U21 nationals claiming two out of the four events needed to with the For The Love of Curling Cup.
This upcoming season, the team will be heading to Finland in December for the World Junior-B Curling Championships to represent Canada.
The Member Associations Cup, which is awarded to the provincial or territorial organization with the greatest overall record in 15 national championship competitions that are either run by or sanctioned by Curling Canada, was won by Ontario Curling.
The Governors’ Cup, the third Cup contest of the year, won’t be given out this year. The Cup won’t be presented until the end of the next season because the 2022–23 season was the first to have all of the championship events played since the 2018–19 season, and it goes to the Member Association that has the best year–to–year progress in back-to-back full seasons.
