Although the Milwaukee Bucks have started the season as one of the stronger teams in the Eastern Conference, it’s evident that they’re still ironing out some bugs following the Damian Lillard deal. They fell down the Portland Trail Blazers by 26 points on Sunday, but they overcame the deficit to win 108-102. Giannis Antetokounmpo, a standout player for the Bucks, expressed his pride in his team on social media following the game and their comeback victory.
Early in the third quarter, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks found themselves trailing 81-55, a deficit of 26 points. They managed to win it after that, outscoring the Blazers 58-21. A game-high 33 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, one steal, and three blocked shots were Antetokounmpo’s final stats. He made 11 of 21 field goals and 11 of 18 free throws.
Antetokounmpo has averaged little over 33 minutes per game this season. In addition to his average of 29.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocked shots per game, he has been shooting 59.9 percent from the field, 23.3 percent from three points, and 63.5 percent from the free throw line.
Prior to the season, the Bucks acquired Damian Lillard, and the expectation was that he would join Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton in a new Big 3. Due to his present injury, Middleton was unable to play on Sunday.
With a record of 12-5, the Bucks and Orlando Magic are virtually tied for second place in the Eastern Conference. They trail the Boston Celtics by just one game in the race for the top spot. If they develop into the championship threat that many predicted they would be, only time will tell.
