Curling Canada and Rock Solid Productions are extending their successful partnership through the 2027-28 season. This collaboration, which has spanned over a decade, focuses on expanding the sport of curling into new communities and schools across Canada. The extension reflects a shared commitment to making curling more accessible and inclusive.

Nolan Thiessen, CEO of Curling Canada, expressed enthusiasm about continuing the partnership, highlighting Rock Solid Productions’ global leadership in introducing curling to newcomers. The partnership’s flagship program, Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings, has been instrumental in achieving these goals. In its 15th year, the program set new records by delivering over 257,000 curling experiences. This initiative uses downloadable teacher resources and specialized equipment, including adaptations for wheelchair users, to broaden participation.

Significant milestones of the partnership include a recent event in collaboration with the Alberta First Nations Health Consortium. At the 2023 Youth Tee Pee Summit, First Nations youth experienced curling through Rocks & Rings, showcasing the program’s reach into diverse communities.

Chad McMullan, president of Rock Solid Productions, emphasized the importance of accessibility and innovation in the sport. The partnership has continually embraced new methods for introducing curling in safe and welcoming environments. This approach aligns with the shared vision of growing the sport and breaking down barriers to participation.

The partnership’s impact was also visible at major curling events this past season, including the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Brier, and the World Women’s Championship. FloorCurl sets, another product of the collaboration, provided an engaging and inclusive curling experience for youth and those who might not otherwise have access to the sport.

Brodie Bazinet, Senior Manager of Philanthropy & Youth Impacts at Curling Canada, noted that Rock Solid Productions has been crucial in reaching a diverse range of youth. The partnership helps overcome geographic and socioeconomic barriers, offering meaningful curling experiences to a broader audience.

Overall, the renewed partnership between Curling Canada and Rock Solid Productions signifies a continued effort to grow the sport of curling and make it accessible to all Canadians. The focus on inclusivity and innovative outreach ensures that curling can continue to thrive and inspire future generations.
