Dean Henderson talks about what Oliver Glasner told them before they defeated Liverpool

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, was certain that his team will surprise everyone on Sunday by defeating Liverpool.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who was instrumental in the outcome that has far-reaching effects on both sides of the Premier League table, says as much.

When Liverpool played an inconsistent Palace squad at Anfield, they were predicted to win the title, but instead they lost 1-0, their first home loss of the year, thanks to an early goal from Eberechi Eze.

After Arsenal’s defeat at the hands of Aston Villa at the Emirates a few hours later, Manchester City leads the table by two points and is currently the obvious favorite to win the league for the fourth time in a row.

With only his second victory since taking over for Roy Hodgson in February, Palace has climbed eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Although a lot of credit must go to the Eagles’ tenacious defense, Liverpool simply wasn’t at the races versus Palace and very wasteful with their chances, in keeping with previous performances.

Henderson more than fulfilled his role, producing a number of outstanding saves, and he has since disclosed that Glasner was certain the three points would be secured prior to kickoff.

“I’ve been working towards that performance for a few weeks now,” the Evening Standard quoted the 27-year-old as saying.

It’s important to note that the manager told us with sincerity that “we’re going to win today.” Our goal in coming here was to succeed.

“The best feeling is that we were written off by everyone.” In front of 62,000 people, eleven men. I’m happy because there was only one [fanbase] present—the 3,000 Palace supporters.

Henderson, who left the Manchester United academy last summer, would have found it even more delicious to win considering he had a difficult first season at Palace after leaving Old Trafford.

The England shot-stopper, Sam Johnstone, has been challenging the goalie for the first half of the season due to injury, but now that he will be out for the remainder of the campaign, the keeper has an opportunity to establish himself.

Despite not being called up to the Three Lions since September 2022, he feels he’s set himself up nicely to travel to Euro 2024 as one of Jordan Pickford’s backup keepers.

The 2020 England cap winner Henderson continued, “I’ve been to hell and back, getting injury after injury and with things not quite working out.”

I’m glad to be playing again. That is a significant tick. In any role, I would adore to attend.

“I’ll go try to save penalties, save shots, and do anything I can to help England.” Hopefully, I’ll obtain the OK.
