Crystal Palace is set to sign Maxence Lacroix as the agreement reaches the final stages

Maxence Lacroix, a 24-year-old French defender, is reportedly on the verge of joining Crystal Palace from Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg.

Maxence Lacroix, a center back for VfL Wolfsburg, is getting close to joining Crystal Palace as the South London team prepares for Marc Guehi’s possible move to Newcastle United. The Eagles and Newcastle United have been incessantly negotiating on a deal for Guehi, who is keen to join St. James’ Park this summer.

The first bid made by Newcastle United for Guehi was turned down. However, the Tyneside team has put in a fresh bid of £50 million plus bonuses in an attempt to undercut Crystal Palace’s £65 million asking price. Guehi’s contract has just two years left, and Newcastle United intends to take advantage of this in their current negotiations.

The Frenchman, 24, has been an outstanding performance for Wolfsburg, and Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is eager to work with him again at Selhurst Park. Glasner managed the Frenchman at the Bundesliga team. Because Glasner is aware with Lacroix’s talents and style of play, the defender is a great choice to replace Guehi, should he go.

In light of the potential departure of one of their star players, Crystal Palace would be wise to acquire Lacroix. The addition of the Frenchman would strengthen Crystal Palace’s defense and provide a player with elite level experience playing in Europe.

Under Glasner, the team had a lot of promise the previous season, and they will look to build on it in 2024–2025. Although selling Michael Olise and losing Guehi will make their mission more difficult, they still have a chance if they sign qualified alternatives like Lacroix.
