Crystal Palace is reportedly interested in signing Reiss Nelson during the next transfer window, per a report from Football Transfers. With his meager playing time at Arsenal, the English winger may be leaving in the summer.
Nelson joined the Arsenal youth setup in 2007 and progressed quickly through the ranks, making his debut for the first squad at the age of 17. Following an outstanding loan stint at TSG Hoffenheim, he was elevated to their senior squad in the summer of 2019.
He’s been on their first team for years, but he’s played very little. The 24-year-old winger has not yet started a single Premier League game in current campaign. Despite playing only 654 minutes, he has appeared in 23 games.
Even though his contract with the Gunners is set to expire in the summer of 2027, he may decide to leave the squad before the next campaign in order to play a regular role in the starting lineup. Nelson’s move from the North London club is expected to be approved for a cost of approximately £30 million, according to the report, which indicates that the chances are in his favour.
The 24-year-old alumnus of the Arsenal youth is a target for Crystal Palace, who are looking to bolster their offensive line in the summer. With Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze gone, their manager Oliver Glasner is getting ready for life without them.
Interest in the services of Eze and Olise is high. Therefore, at the end of the season, there’s a good chance that one or both of them will depart from Selhurst Park. In such case, the Eagles will try to sign the winger from Arsenal.
In the event that one of their stars departs this summer, Glasner is considering Nelson as a possible replacement. Nelson has the potential and Palace is willing to invest in him, even though he may not be getting much playing time at his present club.
