In order to give Jefferson Lerma the best chance of recovering for the Copa America, Crystal Palace will not rush his recovery from his hamstring injury.
The 29-year-old is excited to play for Colombia in the US competition this summer.
Following a run to trail Mohamed Salah in the Eagles’ unexpected 1-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield on April 14, Lerma experienced hamstring stiffness, which has prevented him from playing in Palace’s following three games.
Palace’s next match is against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday, after they face Manchester United on Monday night.
Regarding Lerma’s recuperation, manager Oliver Glasner stated, “He’s working hard.” “It is undoubtedly too early for the Manchester United match. He is putting in a lot of effort to return for the Wolves game.
“However, we still have one more game against [Aston] Villa at the same time due to muscle injuries.” He should be able to play against Villa, I think.
The Copa America is where he will play, though, and it is crucial that he represent Colombia. We’ll be there for him and won’t take any chances that he might get hurt again and misses the Copa America.
“We know how important it is for him, and we wish the best for all of our players.” The same holds true for England and Marc Guehi.
If Guehi stays healthy, he should be selected for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 team. After missing out on action since February 3, he is now eligible to play against United after recovering from a knee injury that needed surgery.
