Cheick Doucoure may miss the remainder of the season Due to a major Achilles tendon injury

After suffering a catastrophic Achilles tendon injury in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Luton Town, Crystal Palace is concerned that midfielder Cheick Doucoure may miss the remainder of the season.

In the second half at Kenilworth Road, Doucoure fell down unchallenged and was carried off the field on a stretcher.

Doucoure’s potential six-month absence from Crystal Palace would be a severe blow to the Eagles.

The 23-year-old international player for Mali will also be absent from the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.

Roy Hodgson, the manager of Palace, stated following the Luton loss: “He’s got a bad injury.” I’ll give that to the doctor to handle first. It won’t be a temporary injury that takes him out of commission.

Doucoure impressed last season, drawing interest from Liverpool after joining Palace after an initial £18 million from Lens.

Eberechi Eze, who was also substituted on Saturday due to an injury, will undergo testing this week to see whether he can play on Sunday against West Ham.

Eze was just back from a hamstring ailment that had sidelined him for a month.
