The Indiana Fever made a two-sport crossover appearance at Lucas Oil Stadium on the fourth night of the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials. In recognition of USA Swimming’s Women in Sports night, the WNBA team from Indianapolis, The Fever, was honored prior to the start of the finals session.
Additionally, the Indiana Pacers and the Fever sponsored a handout of sunglasses and koozies, a sort of cup insulator, to the first 5,000 spectators that entered the stadium on Tuesday night. This event was made possible by USA Swimming.
The whole Fever team was in attendance, including 2023 WNBA No. 1 pick and current American athlete of the year Aliyah Boston, as well as 2024 WNBA draft first overall pick Caitlin Clark, who is one of the most popular athletes in the country. The following Fever players were present: Kristy Wallace, Temi Fagbenle, Katie Lou Samuelson, Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell, Celeste Taylor, Nalyssa Smith, Erica Wheeler, Victoria Saxton, and Kristy Wallace. In addition to head coach Christie Sides, every player on the team had their name called over the loudspeaker.
The Fever have two home games from June 15 to June 23 as they are participating in the Olympic trials. After defeating the Chicago Sky 91-83 on Sunday, they will take on the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night.
This season, Clark’s presence on the Fever has made them a major attraction in Indianapolis. They have the most supporters of any WNBA club this season, averaging 16,683 per game inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The most views a WNBA game has received in 23 years was 2.25 million for the Fever’s most recent matchup against the Sky on CBS.
