BREAKING:Hull City owner Acun Ilicali gives an update on the Tigers transfer plan

Ambitious owner Acun Ilicali says Hull City is ready to be patient in their pursuit of strengthening the squad in the summer transfer window.

To give Tim Walter a realistic chance of surpassing the seventh-place result his predecessor Liam Rosenior earned the previous season, City knows they need to add eight or ten new players.

This summer’s transfer window will be challenging to negotiate because clubs throughout the nation will be contending with strict Financial Fair Play regulations. City is no exception, therefore they will need to make adjustments to their roster.

Liam Delap arrived last term right before City’s players flew to Istanbul for their pre-season training camp, but guys like Tyler Morton and Jaden Philogene didn’t come until the final day, the night before their fantastic victory over Leicester City.

Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves are important to City’s summer transfer strategy. The club does not want to lose either player, but they are pragmatic enough to realize that it might make financial sense to sell the pair given their high worth and potential to generate a significant difference in Walter’s transfer purse should they be sold.

Ilicali acknowledges that some moves, particularly high-profile Premier League loans, will take longer to complete and that City must maintain their composure. The club would prefer to close deals quickly and give Walter as much time as possible on the training field with his new hire.

“It is important, of course, to get players in early, but don’t forget when you’re trying to get your business done early at this time you can miss good opportunities,” the Turkish businessman stated to Hull Live.

“Following their preseason camps, the major clubs make some loan decisions. When discussing our loan players, we must hold off on acquiring the best. Unfortunately, the team will have to deal with this current football rule, which presents challenges for many clubs, not just us.

Naturally, we would prefer to have them during the preseason, but I don’t think he will have the new players ready for action during the first week of practice. Walter will find our team structure, along with a few new members, to be sufficient and enjoyable.”
