According to Hull Live, Hull City has lately shown interest in Fulham striker Jay Stansfield.
Although Jaden Philogene is currently the Tigers’ top offensive threat, there is no assurance that he will stick around, as the team has recently seen a number of offensive players leave MKM Stadium.
Liam Delap, Noah Ohio, and Anass Zaroury all rejoined their parent clubs, Burnley, meaning that Zaroury’s tenure at the club has come to an end.
Although Fabio Carvalho’s loan in East Yorkshire has also ended, the club’s striker department is the area that need immediate attention.
Not only have Ohio and Delap moved on, but so have Aaron Connolly and Billy Sharp.
Irishman Connolly’s departure was somewhat of a surprise, while Sharp’s resignation isn’t a huge surprise given the veteran forward’s lack of influence.
In light of all of these departures, the striker position will need to be rebuilt; nevertheless, if they aren’t going to be able to capitalize on players like Philogene and Jacob Greaves in the near future, they could need to make some inexpensive acquisitions.
They might benefit from using the free agent market, and they might be able to bring in some loanees to improve the caliber and depth of this group.
Hull is supposedly keeping an eye on Stansfield, who excelled at Birmingham City the previous campaign.
Reaching double figures for Blues, it is unfortunate for him that on the last day of the season, the Midlands club was relegated and he could not keep them in the Championship.
He may not be overly surprised by how well he performed last term given how successful he was at Exeter City, but he is one of the few players who can still hold his head high after it.
Regretfully for the Tigers, it’s possible that his EFL performances for the Blues and Grecians convinced the Cottagers to retain him for the upcoming season.
Fulham manager Marco Silva made his position on Stansfield known to the Evening Standard, saying, “He’s (Stansfield) going to be back with us.”
“Everything was a box [ticked], with the exception of Birmingham’s collective goal, which was not what we intended.
“It was satisfying to see him make progress in the Championship, be a vital member of the offensive line, and score significant goals after playing in League One the previous season with Exeter City. Jay accomplished all that mattered.
“Now is the moment for him to come back and be one of the players in our attacking line for next season.”
