Former Cyclone star, Izaiah Brockington has committed to play in the NBA2k25 Summer League with the New Orleans Pelicans. UNLV’s campus in Las Vegas will host games from July 12–22.
He appeared in 33 games with the Birmingham Suqadron (New Orleans Pelicans) in the NBA G League, where he played for the most of the season. Averaging 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 steals in a game, Brockington was quite successful. Throughout his 33 games, he averaged 28.6 minutes per game and made 26 starts. March 5th, versus Toronto, was Brockington’s NBA debut. He scored 4 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.
Averaging 16.9 points and 6.8 rebounds in his lone season at Iowa State, Brockington—who was named the 2022 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year—had one of the best seasons in school history. He started all 35 of the team’s games. Along with winning USBWA and NABC all-district awards, he was also selected to the All-Big 12 First Team.
With double digits in scoring in 30 of 35 games—12 with 20 or more—and four of the best rebounding stats in the Big 12, Brockington was a formidable team. After recording a career-high 35 points in a victory over West Virginia, he finished the season with seven double-doubles. With a 22-13 record, he guided the Cyclones to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 trip.
