Hull City is still keen to sign Liam Delap this summer as a youthful attacker after the 21-year-old impressed so much in the previous campaign.
However, the report that has come out of Italy suggesting that Fiorentina and Bologna, two Serie A teams, are vying for his signature appears to have made that task even more difficult.
According to reports circulating in Europe, the two were impressed by Delap’s performance at City last season, where he scored eight goals in thirty-one games despite missing three months of action due to a knee injury.
Not only did that knee injury ruin his season, but it also delayed City’s push for the play-offs, as he didn’t fully recover until close to the end of the season.
The frontman is attracting interest from other teams, and according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, both Fiorentina and Bologna are considering a move for Delap in order to give him the opportunity to play in Italy’s top division and potentially play in Europe. Despite this, City is still committed to bring him back on loan this summer.
Bologna’s fifth-place finish in Serie A earned them a spot in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Viola will compete in the Conference League once more, hoping to win the title after losing to Olympiacos and West Ham in the finals the previous two times. Should an offer come up, Delap will undoubtedly be tempted.
When he introduced new manager Tim Walter to the public earlier this month, City’s owner Acun Ilicali reaffirmed those goals by stating that, should the Premier League champions approve Delap’s departure, Delap would be the team’s first choice at center.
When inquired about whether an offer had been submitted, Ilicali responded to the 1904 Club podcast, “No, but we are on it because at the moment we have to wait for some reasons.” “Right now, we just need to wait and speak with Manchester City about it. Liam Delap is our top pick, assuming we have any chance of obtaining him.”
