Breaking News:Minnesota Vikings suspend offensive coordinator

Wes Phillips, the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, has reportedly been suspended for three weeks without pay due to his arrest for drunk driving in 2023 and subsequent conviction for a moving infraction.

On April 23, Phillips is scheduled to resume work, according to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.

At first, 44-year-old Phillips was accused of DWI. Prosecutors, however, permitted him to enter a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

Phillips was mandated to complete eight hours of community service, pay a $300 fine, and pay a $78 fee.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Friday, December 8, Phillips was stopped for speeding on Interstate 394 in Minneapolis, according to Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Jill Frankfurth, who spoke with the Star Tribune.

According to officials, his blood alcohol content was 0.10 percent and he looked to be inebriated. State law sets the legal limit at.08.

Around eleven at night, Phillips was arrested for misdemeanor DWI and taken to the Hennepin County Jail. According to jail records, he was freed shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday after posting a $300 bond.

The Vikings released a statement hours after the arrest, saying, “Wes immediately notified the team following his arrest last night.”

“We spoke with the NFL this morning, and following internal deliberation, we decided that Wes would accompany the team to Las Vegas this afternoon. We’ll keep collecting details on the incident and provide more commentary when it’s appropriate.
