Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon page earlier this week that Hull City was reportedly considering Gambian forward Adama Sidibeh (via Football League World).
The Tigers, who are hoping to make their first trip back to the top division since 2017, nearly missed out on a play-off position and will look to add some firepower. The departure of Liam Rosenior from the team is one of the major changes they’ve made recently. Sidibeh, a striker for St Johnstone, is thought to be viewed as a developing star by the Tigers hierarchy.
Football Insider said that Derby, Middlesbrough, and Burnley were also interested in the striker, who is valued at £500,000 by his original club, so they were never the only team chasing him. They paid a small amount for him, and as insurance against a hasty sale, they included a release clause.
There are now five possible suitors after the addition of another name on the list this morning. According to Nixon (via The 72), Swansea City, who placed 14th in the Championship under Luke Williams, are currently said to be keeping an eye on the players’ condition. Williams found it difficult to remain consistent after joining the Swans in January, but he will be looking for more in his debut season at Liberty Stadium.
Sidibeh, who joined the Scottish team from non-league Warrington Rylands, has experienced quite the ascent to fame. Despite having only moved north of the border in January, he has already been called up to play for Gambia and has scored five goals to help his team stay in the SPFL.
Many Championship teams are now hopeful he might have the goals to propel them into the top six the next campaign. It is unclear if that is Swansea, Hull, or a different side.
