Breaking News:Crystal Palace and Tottenham in the race to sign Hull City Star

Jaden Philogene of Hull City is being monitored by Crystal Palace in front of the summer transfer window.

London News Online reports that the Eagles are keeping an eye on the player’s development in the Championship in anticipation of a possible trade when the market opens at the conclusion of the season.

For his efforts in the second division this season, Philogene has garnered a lot of attention and established himself as an important member of Liam Rosenior’s team at the MKM Stadium.

The winger, who reportedly paid £5 million to join the Tigers from Aston Villa, arrived in the summer.

From his 22 Championship outings thus far this season, the 22-year-old has contributed eight goals and six assists (all data courtesy of Fbref).

In recent weeks, Philogene’s future at Hull has been called into question as other clubs are allegedly keeping an eye on his development in the Championship.

Palace is the most recent team to express interest; the London team has a track record of acquiring young players from the lower divisions.

Players from teams in the second level, such as Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, and Adam Wharton, have been at Selhurst Park in recent years.

According to a stipulation in the agreement from the sale of Philogene, Aston Villa will have first dibs on a £15 million return transfer to Villa Park should the two teams end up playing in the same league.

Hull’s drive to qualify for the Premier League makes it a real possibility for them to do so before the summer, which might present a challenge for Palace. It is unclear, though, if the Midlands team would be interested in re-signing the player.

The young player has been linked to Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s thought that Spurs are in the lead in the race to sign him.

The Hull star’s potential next destination has also been suggested: the Dutch powerhouse Ajax.

Since Philogene is under contract with the Tigers through the summer of 2026, there is little chance the team will attempt to move him at the end of the current season.

It is believed that Hull would like to provide more than the £15 million buy-back clause that Villa owns, therefore signing the England U21 international would probably cost Spurs, Palace, or Ajax more money.

Rosenior’s team has a game in hand over their competitors despite now being in seventh place in the Championship table, three points outside of the play-offs.

It is hardly surprising that Philogene is becoming more well-known after his stellar Hull campaign.

He will be essential to any success they might have this term in the play-offs.

Promotion would, however, make matters more complicated in the event that Villa decides they would like to have him rejoin the team.

Hull will be in a solid position to hang onto him if Villa decides not to re-sign him, but failing to advance could cause him to change his mind and leave.

Should the Yorkshire club decide to stay in the Championship for one more season, a deal worth between £20 and £25 million might be sufficient to persuade them to sell.
