Wrexham announced a series of changes on Friday, including the release of club captain Ben Tozer and first team captain Luke Young.
The club is also losing veteran goalkeeper Rob Lainton, as well as defenders Aaron Hayden, Jordan Tunnicliffe, and Callum McFadzean, as well as defenders Owen Cushion and Dan Davies. “The lads have all shown excellent professionalism, and even those who haven’t played as much as they should still contribute with their attitudes and standards off the field,” the statement reads.
“Despite receiving less playing time in recent months, Luke Young and Ben Tozer have demonstrated excellent leadership for the club as both first-team and club captains.
“All the players leaving the Club go with our very grateful thanks for their efforts and contributions during their time at Wrexham.”
“For their work over the past few years, I would want to thank each and every player. They’ve all contributed to our success, and I want the best for them in the future,” Phil Parkinson, the manager, stated.
The team also declared that offers will be extended to Steven Fletcher, Mark Howard, and Aaron James, and that James McLean’s contract has been automatically renewed.
Following the end of his loan stint at Marine FC, a decision regarding Scott Butler’s future will be made.
Wrexham recently achieved promotion from the National League to EFL League One for the second time in a row.
After three years as the club’s chief executive officer, Fleur Robinson, will also be leaving at the end of the current campaign.
“It has been an honor to serve as CEO of Wrexham for the last three years,” Robinson stated in a release. “I am proud that I leave the club in a much better position on and off the pitch than when I arrived.”
